SPECTRUM FUNK 9/9
September 6th, 2008 | Written by: TOUR-Mag Staff Published in Events, Flyers
On Tuesday, September 9th, SPECTRUM FUNK, artist and TV personality Amanda Diva’s new monthly party at Drom, lights up the stage at the East Village hotspot, featuring guest performances by Queens rapper Homeboy Sandman and the quick-spitting female MC duo Nola Darling. Combining live music and live painting with mixes by the city’s the hottest DJs, Amanda Diva plans to brighten up the Fall with a new brand of hip-hop and R&B called SPECTRUM FUNK.
Amanda Diva serves as the party’s “Mistress of Funk“, moving the crowd with her quick-witted hosting skills and a live music set. To keep things bright and stunning, SPECTRUM FUNK features guest artists that bring their own funk to the stage, followed by Diva’s guest DJs, who segue the show into a dance party, spinning the best in hip hop, classic R&B, soul, and of course FUNK! Alongside the stage, artists do live paintings, giving the evenings even more glow!
On September 9th, SPECTRUM FUNK will feature Homeboy Sandman, a budding hip-hop artist and graduate of University of Pennsylvania–who sold out the Knitting Factory in July–delivering witty, relatable rhymes with a glaring sense of humor, and Nola Darling, a team of two funky hip-hop divas who’s rapid-fire flow and soothing vocals have garnered much praise via their Pretty Gritty mini-mixtape, mixed by DJ Melo-X.
New York City is a multi-colored spectrum of different cultures, sounds and flavors, and Amanda Diva and friends will bring that to life to every month Drom. Prepare yourself for a sneak peak into a new approach to music, yet to be discovered by most.
